John Haruff Obituary

John Joseph Haruff, Jr. On Feb. 3, 2006, John passed away peacefully at home in San Carlos after a five-year battle with cancer. He was born on Oct. 12, 1932, in San Francisco to the late John and Helen Haruff. He was a resident of San Carlos for 45 years. He is survived by Margaret, his wife of 41 years; son, John of Campbell, and daughter, Hilary of San Jose. John is also survived by his sister Marjorie (Steve) Filseth; a niece and two nephews; mother-in-law, Margaret Pickford; and sister-in-law, Jan Miller. He will also be greatly missed by his pets, Jasmine, Wally, Ben and George. His hobbies of photography and fly-fishing took him around the world, visiting all seven continents. He was an avid woodworker and a Ham radio operator (W6QKN) since the age of 15. He graduated from San Jose State with a degree in electrical engineering, and after a long career, retired from Eimac in 1997. As per John's request, no services will be held. John and I worked together for many years at Perkin Elmer Ultek and Varian Associates. We became good friends and enjoyed working together on fun projects. I am sorry to hear that he has passed away.
