John Hickey Obituary
John was born in July 1939, in Castleisland, Co. Kerry, Ireland, emigrated to the U.S. and found his way to San Francisco in 1957. After an initial stint as a Park Ranger in Tilden and the East Bay Regional Parks, John became and remained an accomplished Plumber. Throughout his life, John loved his family, friends, animals, music, dance, and nature. He will be sorely missed.
Friends may visit Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016 at 5:00pm, Vigil Service at 7:00pm at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd, at 11:00am at Saint Gabriel's Church, 2559 40th Ave, San Francisco. Internment Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the ALS Foundation Forbes Norris Research and Treatment Center or the San Francisco SPCA.

We are so sorry to learn of John's passing. We have fond memories of him starting on our first day in the neighborhood. He was walking by and offered to help us move all of our belongings up to our brand new house while regaling us with stories of the neighborhood and how he did the plumbing for the former owner. Then he invited us down for tea and to meet his lovely wife Anne. He played "Oh Danny Boy" on his accordion that day and many times later. We were so warmly welcomed by Anne & John and remained friends until we moved across country. We miss you! Fondly, Tom,Faith,Anna & Daniel Lee

I am so sorry to hear of John's death .
We had long chats while he did plumbing jobs in, my house for the last 25 years.
He was always kind. He always did a through job
I would give him rhubarb from my yard. He liked rhubarb pie.
Good memories of the few times over the years I spent time with him when he did jobs for me.

I will miss John! Met him through my mother, he worked at her house a time or two and then helped me out. Used to see him at the Irish Center on a Saturday night. He was a kind, thoughtful and funny man and always had a smile on his face. My deepest condolences on this great loss.
