John Kennedy Obituary

John Joseph Kennedy Known to most as Sean and to some of the Marines he proudly served with as JJ or Irish, was born In 1934 in Cork, Ireland. He moved with his family to New York in 1948. He joined the Marines in 1952. He proudly served as a Marine for 20 years. He was decorated many times, among others, he earned: 2 Bronze Stars with Combat V, Navy Commendation with Combat V and the Purple Heart. Following his retirement from the Corp., Sean served for 20 years as a Security Police Officer at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. He is survived by his companion of many years, Karen Gilbert, his children Colleen, Kevin Sean and Terence, their spouses, his grand children, his great-grandchild, his wife, his sisters, many nieces, nephews, and beloved relatives in the US and in Ireland. Memorial Services will be held at 11am on Friday, November 19 at the National Cemetery in The Presidio in San Francisco. Contact family at [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make donations in Sean's name to the Navy-Marine Corp Relief Society.

What a happy picture to share of your father Sean. There are so many joyous memories I and my family hold dear of each of you and your parents. Our sincere sympathies. Treasure your memories, they will serve you well in the coming years. Enjoy the laughter you shared, the happy moments, the special events. Take a filled balloon, express your regrets and sadness, than release the balloon and all your tears. It will prove very healthy for each of you. Your father would not want you to hold onto anything but your love, happiness and joyous memories.
