John Larkey Obituary

John P. Larkey Jr. (Jack)
October 21, 1931 - June 21, 2021
John (Jack) Paul Larkey, Jr, passed away on June 21, 2021 peacefully at his home. Jack was born on October 21, 1931, in Alameda, California.

Jack was a life-long Bay Area native and proud graduate of George Washington High School in San Francisco. Like his father and brother before him, Jack made his career on the waterfront, and after 40 years, he retired, filling his days with travel, golf, family, and friends. Jack was a long-time member of the Masonic Brotherhood, an active member of San Francisco Bodies Scottish Rite and in 1997 earned 33°, Inspector General Honorary. As a long-time member of Mira Vista Country Club ( Berkeley Country Club ), Jack enjoyed 40 years of golf, camaraderie and carded more than one hole in one!

Jack will be dearly missed as a loving light in the lives of his family. There was nothing Jack enjoyed more than playing golf with his daughter, enjoying a tasty meal, celebrating with a fine glass of wine and of course sharing a favorite story… or 10.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Michele Larkey and her wife Christine Robak; his partner Pamela Whitty, her son's Christian (Jennifer), Tracy (Cheryl), and will be missed as 'Grandpa Jack' to Will, Piper, Connor and Sophia; stepdaughters, Catherine Petru, Renee Coggins, Cecily Merriman (Michael) and Michelle Mullet; and sister-in-law Sandra Escobar (Robert).
In Jack's honor, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The Scottish Rite Philanthropy: RiteCare Childhood Language Center in Burlingame, CA. https://www.ritecaresf.org/
SERVICES: A celebration of Jack's life will be held at a later date.
