JOHN LAUDERDALE Obituary

John Maitland Lauderdale 10-14-41 to 6-18-12 Clan Maitland John passed away peacefully on June 18. He is survived by his devoted and caring wife of 43 years, Clorinda, and their children, Christopher (Susannah) of Lincoln, CA and Elaine Bailey (Michael) of Kent, WA. He was a loving and devoted Papa to his grandchildren, Nathaniel and Katelyn Lauderdale. He is also survived by Lela Lauderdale and family, and family members and friends, including his brother James. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marjorie Lauderdale and his in-laws, Paul and Fannie LaFrancesca. A native San Franciscan, John attended St. Agnes Grammar School, A.P. Giannini Junior High School, Abraham Lincoln High School, Class of 1959, San Francisco State College, Bachelor of Arts, 1964, and Golden Gate College, Masters of Business Administration, 1971. As a member of Delta Phi Gamma fraternity, while at SF State, John made many memories and friends in the Redwood Room. John was a Vietnam Veteran serving aboard the USS John A. Bole as Torpedoman 3rd Class from 1965-1967. He retired from Pacific Gas & Electric Company in 1993. As a long time parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy in Daly City, John was a member of the Westlake Catholic Men, volunteered with the OLM Festival Committee, and served on the church Finance Committee for many years. John was also involved with his children's sports teams, coaching his daughter's basketball team for several years. He was active with Boy Scout Troop 347 at OLM as Troop Committee Chairman and then continuing with Boy Scout Troop 343 at St. Thomas More as Assistant Scout Master. He enjoyed summer camp at Camp Royaneh, encouraging many young men to always be committed to doing their best. John's ability to make friends, work with many people, and still hold true to himself is what made him the person he was. John will be missed, not only because of the constant love he had for his family, but also for meeting life's challenges with fortitude, perseverance and dignity. Visitation, Monday June 25, at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, 1 Elmwood Drive, Daly City, from 10-11am followed by Mass at 11am. Private family burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, San Pablo, CA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, John's wish was that any memorial contributions be sent to Boy Scouts of America, Troop 343, c/o Tom Hazard, ASM, 904 Foothill Drive, Colma, CA 94015.
