I am sad beyond words. I just found out about John's passing today through a fraternity brother. John and I were Sig Pi's at Long Beach State and roommates for 2 years. I have endless stories of "old man" Metzcus -- but needless to say he was the life of the party and a permanent fixture in the memory of the brothers from that time. At the time he worked for Sierra Nevada Brewing Co and would take me on sales runs to all the local LB pubs --- he was one hell of a salesman. Going to Lake Mojave for spring break, Public Enemy concert, Las Vegas for New Years, so many memories. Though I hadn't spoken with John since 2001, I thought of him often and how my college experience would not have been the same without him. I will miss him tremendously. My deepest condolonces to his parents and family. RIP John.

Metzcus family,
I had the pleasure of working with John in MI. We fished together a few times, never caught much but it was fishing not catching. I will miss his wit, and sarcasm as well as his over the top personality.
God speed sweet prince of the pun, the world is a much emptier place without you.
He especially loved his family, peace be with all of you as well.
You are in my thoughts and prayers,Michele,Santana,Amelia.

Michelle, I can still remember the first time I met John. We were at Knuckles bar in Burlingame. He walked in with those big blue eyes, and a smile ear to ear. I knew then that he was the guy for you.I will always remember how he made us laugh and smile that day.

John "Tiny" Metzcus was the best brother-in-law I could've asked for. Besides being a kind, considerate, honorable person. He had the uncanny ability to make friends wherever he went. He and I bonded on one of the many fishing trips we took together and the other ones that we each took on our own, but lived vicariously througheach others stories of what the other person missed out on. We both dreamed of going fishing with Uncle John, a.k.a. Sensei. Tiny...the Minnow rides! Know that you are with me on each of my subsequent trips and I look to your guidance on these adventures. Hopefully, you've found our ultimate fishing spot with Bella. Rest in Peace.

John was one of the most inspiring and influential people in my life. We were friends for 20 years and 2 days. He will be missed more than I can express, and this is such a tragedy. Michelle, Santana, and Amelia, John was the best, and everyone knew it. Thank you for letting me be a part of your lives..if only for a little while. God Bless you all.
