Josephine Blagdon

BLAGDON, Josephine - 101 years. December 5, 1903 - August 20, 2005 Surrounded by family she passed away peacefully at the Atria Retirement home in Daly City. During her final days she was cared for by Mission Hospice and received care and support from Teresa Saltzman, executive director of Atria, to whom the family are very grateful. Josephine was born in Kukljica, Croatia, and was brought to San Francisco by her brother Paul Martinovich when she was 17. She married Charles Blagdon, the iceman, and had two children, Charles and Helen. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles; and her son Charles M. Josephine is survived by her daughter Helen Hix and daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Blagdon. She enjoyed cooking and baking chocolate chip cookies for her seven grandchildren: Chris, Dan Blagdon and Linda Menary, Jim, Bob, Tom Hix and Donna Sanchez. Also, known as "Baba" by her 16 great and four great-great grandchildren. She will be remembered as Auntie Bepa by her nieces, nephews and cousins for helping those in need in the U.S. and Croatia. Family and friends may visit Friday, 10am, with a Funeral Service 11am at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery.
