Josephine "Jo" Coffey

Josephine "Jo" Coffey July 30,1922-February 6 ,2007 Passed away peacefully with family members at her side. Jo was born in Denair, CA and raised in San Jose. She was a valued employee of the Bank of America 20 years. Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Dan; her brothers Joe and Tony Cartisano. Great loving mother to daughter, Linda Christie and her husband Larry Bargato and son, Dan Coffey and his loving wife Marilyn Coffey. Wonderful grandmother to Mark, Matthew and Michael Christie and Patrick, Sean and Cari Coffey. She is survived by her brother Domonic and sister, Marilyn Cartisano and many nieces, nephews and friends. After leaving San Jose for San Francisco she met her future husband Dan working at the United States Post Office, where Dan later became the Postmaster of Daly City. They resided in Daly City and were very active members of the Our Lady of Mercy Church and parish. They moved to San Mateo where they enjoyed retirement by traveling to Europe and attending almost every one of their grandchildren's activities. She was a very independent woman with an incredible love for her family. Her determination and will is a strength that touched all that knew her. She will be dearly missed. A Vigil Service will be held starting at 7:00 pm on Fri., Feb. 9th at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave. in Daly City. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Sat., Feb. 10th, 10:00 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 1 Elmwood Dr. in Daly City. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. Despite a deep loss to those who know her, she will be happily reunited with her greatest friend who was also happened to be her husband.
