Josiah Harmar Obituary

Josiah "Joe" Harmar
08/25/1952 - 08/30/2025
Joe Harmar passed away on August 30, 2025, surrounded by family, friends, and love at his home in Rancho Mirage, CA, at 73.
He is survived by his loving husband, Frank Lewis, of 21 years, with whom he enjoyed many wonderful years, especially their time traveling and their special place in the Bahamas.
Born in Chestnut Hill, PA, to Mary and William Harmar, Joe cherished his siblings Bill (Anna), Robbie, Charlie (Emily), Nina (Fargo), and Holly (Osamu). He was a caring uncle to his precious nieces, Ashley, Holly, Alexa, Lila, and nephews, Billy, Harmar, Bevan, and Josiah, and lifelong friend Anne Day.
Joe spent over five decades in the SF Bay Area, where he made many longtime friends, his California family that includes, to name simply a few, Laurie, Norma, Kasey, and Rich. For the past 30 years, he co-owned SF-based Spotlight Promotions with his long-standing friend Terri Cassin.
Joe celebrated 34 years of sobriety this year, and that gave him much gratitude and strength. He made everyone he met feel special. Joe lit up every occasion with his sense of humor, hearty laugh, and smile. He was a kind and truly special person. We all just loved Joe - he will be deeply missed.
Donations in Joe's name can be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation or Alzheimer's Association.

Joe, I cant believe youre gone. My heart is aching . You were such a wonderful soul. I loved walking past your porch in the bahamas every morning with Haven ( my puply) , and seeing you and Frank "the tank" sitting out having your morning coffee. It always made me so happy when we went down to the beach and saw you and Frank floating in the ocean with your dollar store goggles on. Looking for sea glass. Eventhough u were a 49ers fan....no one is perfect... I will miss you my dude..

Uncle Joe loved to make us laugh, which exemplifies his warm personality. His kind spirit and thoughtfulness helped me to feel supported during a difficult stage of my life. I will miss his presence in the world, but his memory will remain present.
