Judith Gerber Obituary

With heavy hearts we share the passing of Judie (61), after a brief illness, on January 2, 2025. Born in Guelph, Ontario, Judie was the beloved daughter of Harry (2021) and Anne Gerber, devoted wife of Angus mac Lir, dear sister to Richard (Marla), and Chris Reeves (Joel), the loving and fun aunt of Matthew (Kathleen), Lauren (Duncan) and Jared (Ireland), the doting owner of many pets, including Casey, Ruby, Rudi, Duncan, Pal and Smokey, and a faithful and caring friend to so many.
Judie was an advocate and champion for so many people and animals, and consistently put others before herself. She will be remembered for her kind and incredibly generous spirit, pride of family, loyal and rich friendships, love of running, reading, writing and storytelling, her incredible laugh, and an unfaltering belief that goodness and kindness would prevail in this life and beyond.
May your spirit soar over the rainbow to the heavens above, and your soul be eternally at peace. You will be forever missed and remembered always with love and laughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Richmond Hill United Church in Richmond Hill, Ontario, on Friday February 7, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. ET (A Zoom link will be available closer to the date at www.marshallfuneralhome.com )
In California, a Memorial will be held on April 12, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Westridge Park and Open Space, Petaluma.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marine Mammal Center Sausalito, or COTS (Committee on the Shelterless of Petaluma).

Judie, You left way too soon. You gave so much of yourself always, to your friends, your family, to people you'd casually meet and to yours and other's pets. Your research and writing will hopefully get to those who need it most - in particular your research on Lyme disease and Bartonella.
I have been flooded with memories of the things we've shared over the past 30+ years since you first joined the Marin Headland's Hostel crew. I will remember our many hikes over the years - in particular the one we wound up unexpectedly sleeping in the back country of Yosemite many years ago. But honestly the one I will hold dearest to my heart is the one we took one week before you received this terrible news. I am so happy we had that day together, hiking in the pouring rain and heavy winds - not usual weather for us, yet nonetheless wonderful. I miss you terribly and will remember you always. You have always been a great friend to me and I love you. I hope you have gotten the peace you have deserved for too long now and are getting your answers. I will see you on the other side, or sooner if I'm lucky. RIP my dearest of friends.
