June Lamb Obituary

June Lamb
March 29, 1926 - February 19, 2024
June W. Lamb peacefully passed away on the morning of February 19, in Santa Rosa, surrounded by family. June was born in Elk River, Idaho in 1926. She married Jack Lamb in California in 1949, where they bought a house in San Mateo for $19,000. They raised their three children John, Jeff, and Jonie until his untimely death in 1965. June married Alex Macias in 1988 after a 10 year courtship. June became a licensed family therapist, at the age of 50, specializing in helping families challenged by life-threatening illness. She taught in the San Mateo Community College District and trained volunteer hospice caregivers for 24 years. She held discussion groups in her home studying psychology, spirituality, and how to navigate different stages of life. She was very active and loved participating in the San Mateo Rotary Club. She authored two books - "The Learning Journey" and "Choosing How We Die." She leaves behind a thriving family of three children; their spouses; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

June was my therapist for a few years in the80s. She helped me a lot. After a time we formed a deeper bond and soon June was sharing stories. I got to know her dog was her baby, I can't remember the name. I remember when the dog died she was buried in the yard. We had visits beyond therapy so I got to know June a little better. We would have tea and June would show me the yard, I remember when the Japanese Maple was planted in the yard, I have a pressed leaf in one of June's books. I have both books with a notation from June.
I love the picture of June in her chair with her doggie in her arms.
Thank you for sharing your life.

June was my therapist for a few years in 80s. She helped me a lot. After about while we developed a deeper bond. She shared stories about her first husband, his death, caring for the children, meeting her second husband and their long courtship. I remember when her beloved dog died. That was a big loss for her.
When our therapy ended I would stop to "visit" occasionally. We would have tea and we would share stories or June would show me the yard or precious memories in the house. I remember when she got the Japanese Maple planted. She was thrilled.
I have both of her books and both have a very special notation from June.
I love the picture chosen for this. It is fitting that June is sitting there with her precious doggie in her arms.
Thank you, June.

Hi Joanie, I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. Everyone in the bay area knew of her and the work she did to support so many. Know that I am thinking of you, missing you, and comforted in knowing that you are surrounded by your children and grandchildren. xoxo, Jan

June was an integral part of my adolescence and young adulthood, having helped me through difficult emotional channels. Later on, she offered me a room in her home and I always felt that her love and wisdom was a personal gift to me.
