Happy 88th Birthday, Katherine. You always celebrated on the 6th and the 7th since you were born over midnight on both days. It's still hard to believe you are gone. You are dearly remembered.

About five years ago I received a phone call from Katherine wanting to thank the Sisters of Mercy who worked at Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield, California for the care they gave her when she was a patient here many years ago. Over the years, I enjoyed very much her phone calls to me. She was such a kind and caring person. I even saved one of her phone calls on my voicemail. Now I can play it back.
I know she is enjoying the happiness of eternity.

If there could be only one word to describe Katherine, it would be ebullience. She radiated it. I remember her as always being high on life. Before and after transitioning, she was one happy and determined individual. From the basement of the old Federal building to her flat on Dolores street, my experiences with Katherine were delightlful. I am sorry we lost contact after she moved to IN and regret not knowing she had returned to the Bay area. It was comforting to learn that she had lived a good long life. She will not be forgotten.

I have never known a finer, lovelier, more gracious lady in my life. Her strength, love of life, and attitude were truly an inspiration for anyone to take note of and follow. She lived a life of deep spiritual beliefs which she made a part of each and every day. I will always treasure the lovely relationship we had with much gratitude. I will miss her, but she will always be with me.

My husband and I are so sorry to hear of the lost, she was always friendly to us and called at least yearly to find out how her "house" was. We purchased her home here in Terre Haute, IN in 1990. I will miss those phone calls! but we have the comfort of knowing we will see her again in heaven! I will try and find an aspen tree to plant in her honor, she always wanted our side yard to be an aspen forest. Thanks to Don Bednarz for letting us know, and sending the picture. We will miss you Katherine

You will be missed, dear friend. Your daily calls and caring voice had become so much a part of my life that I am now left with such a large void. To allow your large group of friends to continue to share their remembrances, I am sponsoring this as a permanent guest book.

Since you were so proud of your inherited titles, I would like to list them all: Her Royal Highness Katherine Alexandra Demetriana Delana Eleanor, Dowager Princess Plantagenet, Grande Duchess of Acquitane, Duchess of Normandy, Marquise de Lafayette, Countess of Anjou, Poitou, Maine, and all of the Provinces of Guienne, June 7, 1921 - March 23, 2008.

Wonderful woman. We told each other of the many stories of our lives. Now I've lost my aunt, I am sad I was unable to give her, in her life, some of her fathers' belongings. Still making arrangments to attend the funeral and mass.
