Kathleen McGee Obituary

McGEE, Kathleen Teresa - Peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, entered into Eternal Glory on Friday, February 25, 2005. Born in Ballymackey, Nenagh Co. Tipperary, Ireland on February 18, 1942. Kathleen "Kay" was the loving wife of Patrick "P.J." for over 44 years and the adored mother of Patrick (Georgene), Tom (Tammie), Margaret (Tom Smith), Helen (Julio Cuellar), Michael, Colleen (Phil Malouf), and John (Cherie); devoted grandmother to Shane, Ashley, Danielle, Jacquelyn, Kaitlyn, Erin, Stephen, Shannon, Kara, Justin and Kathleen; loving sister to Joseph Collins (Margaret), Bridget Keeshan, Patrick Collins, Sean Collins (Pearl), Ann Wilson, William Collins, and Geraldine Daly (Liam). She is survived by many nieces and nephews in Ireland, and her in-laws, Sean McGee, Vonnie McGee and their children Sean T. and Shannon of Millbrae. Kay joins her parents, William and Kathleen Collins, and her sister, Margaret and husband Thomas McGee in everlasting life. Kay arrived in San Francisco on her eighteenth birthday in 1960. She loved the American way, but never forgot her heritage and fond memories of Ireland. Kay was a member of St. Emydius Parish, St. Jude Society, Our Lady of the Snows and many other Catholic organizations and charities. She was a wonderful wife and an excellent mother, who was happiest when enjoying her family in Ireland, and taking trips to Reno, Lake Tahoe and Newport Beach, but mostly she loved being home in San Francisco with her husband and family. Family and friends may visit Sunday 7pm with a Rosary 7:30pm at St. Emydius Church, 286 Ashton Ave. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10am, also at St. Emydius Church. Committal at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kay's name to Hospice by the Bay, 1540 Market St. Suite 350, San Francisco, CA. 94102-6035.

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you, and whispered come with me. With tear filled eyes we watched as you suffered and faded away, although we loved you deeply, we could not will you to stay. A Golden Heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest. God Broke our hearts to show us, that he only takes the best.

May you rest in peace forever and always.

A friend in God.
