Kenneth Bertelsen Obituary

Kenneth A. Bertelsen

1936 - 2016

After living a full and meaningful life, Kenneth A. Bertelsen passed away at home surrounded by his devoted family on Monday, October 3, 2016 due to Alzheimer's and ALS. He was born in San Francisco on May 15, 1936 to Kenneth and Amy Bertelsen. Ken graduated from Capuchino High School in 1954 and went to work for the family-owned business. He worked there all his life and eventually became the President of Pan Ready Foods until his retirement in 2001. He is survived by his loving wife, Dora, his children Joseph and Lisa (Kenneth Stenquist), grandchildren, Alexandra Bertelsen and Lucas Stenquist; brother Jeffery (Bonnie); sisters-in law Sylvia Sanchez (Raymond); and Josie Hernandez plus many nieces and nephews. His sister Jacqueline Geiser and her husband Andy pre-deceased him.

Ken was in the Naval Reserves and did active duty during the Korean War.

He was an all around sportsman enjoying hunting and fishing with fishing being his passion. He was the founding member of the Foster City Rod & Gun Club and enjoyed organizing fishing trips for other members. During the offseason he continued his love of the ocean by taking friends and family cruising in the SF Bay on his boat.

When Ken was not fishing he enjoyed dancing, listening to Jazz and Latin music, playing cards, and traveling. He enjoyed watching The Giants and the SJ Sharks but the Sharks were his favorite team for 25 years.

Per his wishes, a private interment was held. Donations can be made to the ALS Association Golden West Chapter, P.O. Box 565, Agoura Hills, CA 94301 www.alsagoldenwest.org.

I was so saddened by the lost of Ken. My dear friend Jackie adored both her brothers and always shared the love she had for them with me. I find comfort in knowing they will be together again. I know that his loving family will miss him tremendously. My heart breaks for you all May he rest in peace. My fondest regards to you all.
Sincerely with love to all
