Larry Gray Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Alonzo Gray on May 30th, 2025.
Larry lived to see his 95th year and was surrounded by many loved ones during his final days. He passed peacefully in his sleep.
Born on March 9th, 1930, a third generation San Franciscan, Larry, who was known as "Captain" and "Uncle Bud" was a fair and kind fellow throughout his life and career.
Larry served with honor in the SFPD, retiring as the Commanding Officer of the Central Police District. He then went on to be an Investigator for The State Lottery. He served in the US Navy, worked as a postman and a caddy.
Larry graduated from Lincoln High, City College, and Golden Gate University. Larry enjoyed painting, music and vacationing at Mazatlan and Russian River.
Larry is survived by his children, Larry Jr., (Cathy), Richard, (Natalie), Annie, and Isabelle, his grandchildren, Kimberly, (Janis), Laura, Catie and Lonnie, his great-grandson, Maro, along with his sister-in-laws, Pat Zalba and Clella Gray, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonso and Leanore, his loving wife Laura, along with his four siblings, Peggy, Jim, Pat and Anita.
A Funeral service will be held at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., in Daly City on Tuesday, June 10th at 11 AM, followed by Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Pomeroy Center, S.F.
