Laverne Sparolini Obituary

Laverne Kahl Sparolini May 4, 1917 - January 13, 2007 Pebble Beach - Laverne Kahl Sparolini died peacefully in her home on Jan. 13th. Born May 4, 1917 in San Francisco, CA, to Ernst Adolph Kahl and Laverne Close Kahl, Laverne was raised in Alameda, CA. She was a Pi Beta Phi at the University of California at Berkeley and also was a member of the Oakland Junior League. Laverne spent nearly all of her life in the San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas. She was most recently a member of Carmel Mission Basilica. A talented artist, Laverne donated countless hours to creating auction items for the Monterey Peninsula Hospice, Project Linus and also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. An avid golfer, Laverne enjoyed many fine rounds with her friends at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club. She is survived by beloved husband of 31 years Francis J. Sparolini of Pebble Beach, CA; her son Christopher Storm and his wife Ann of San Francisco, CA; her dear sister Marie Kahl of Santa Rosa, CA; her step-children Susan Lavarnway, James Sparolini and Catherine Sparolini; granddaughters, Kimberly Storm Pagel, Nicole Storm Lee; great grandchildren, Anika and Dylan Pagel and Hanlan Lee; and by former daughter-in-law, Donna Walden and her children Janine Baird and Suzanne Hollingsworth and their children. She was preceded in death by first husband John Richardson; son, Jonathan Richardson Storm; second husband, John Pershing Storm; and dear brother and sister, Ernest Kahl and Jane kahl Garnett. Her dry wit and elegant grace will be missed by all who loved her. In accordance with her wishes, a private family mass and memorial service will be held at Carmel Mission Basilica and a private family burial will be held at her family's site at the Mt. View Cemetery in Oakland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jonathan R. Storm Scholarship Fund at Palma High School, 919 Iverson Street, Salinas, CA or Project Linus, Monterey Bay Chapter, PO BOX 223675, Carmel CA 93922.
