Leo Sabini Obituary
June 19, 1930 - February 25, 2023
Leo Russell "Russ" Sabini passed away at the age of 92 on February 25. A San Francisco native, he was born on June 19 1930. Raised in the Marina District, he grew up with the same friends he spoke to on an almost daily basis until his passing.
He married the love of his life, Dorothy Rose, in 1953. They raised 3 children- Elizabeth, Paula and Russell; and later welcomed 6 grandchildren- Amanda, Joseph, John, Dominic, Kyra and Charlotte and 4 great grandchildren.
He worked faithfully until the age of 65 when he retired and filled his time with countless hobbies and interests. A die hard 49ers, Giants and Warriors Fan, a savvy and eclectic music collector, a bookworm, a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He always found a way to put new life into something old; from refurbishing old furniture to restoring LPs, he had a way of fixing things and making the most out of them. To sum it all up, he was the Best. An amazing example of how to work hard, be kind and appreciate life.
After his passing, we have been overwhelmed by the kind words from anyone and everyone who knew him. There are endless wonderful things to be said about him, he was genuinely an amazing person. He will be forever missed but also cherished by his loved ones, to whom he paved the path for a great life and gave us all the gift of just being in our lives.
Russ will be honored at the 8 am mass on April 2nd at St Vincent de Paul Church

What a wonderful man. Bittersweet pictures with my dad, Gene DeMartini, and rest of Silver Cloud lunch gang. Attending SFIAC dinners as a kid, we´d love sitting next to Russ. He was fun and had a genuine interest in the people around him.

As a kid attending the SFIAC dinners, we always enjoyed sitting next to Russ. He was a lot of fun and took a genuine interest in the people around him.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Russ. He was such a sweet and dear man and my step-dad, Joe's best friend. Here are some photos I took of them together, the most recent one in the middle is from December when Russ came over to watch the 49er game.
