In October, 1987, a young married couple rolled into San Francisco in a station wagon. They had a futon in back and their clothes and a few hundred dollars. No local contacts, no jobs, no place to live. Mr Hurwitt agreed to rent a studio apartment to us, on 33rd Avenue at Clement Street, over Columbus Day weekend.
Because he believed in us, we got a start in the city we love. We still live here. Thank you, Mr. Hurwitt, wherever you are. You made this a better world.
