Lillian Kaufman Of Mill Valley passed away on September 17. She was born Margaret Lillian MacKinnon in Nova Scotia, Canada, on February 25, 1943, the younger sister of Flora and Harold. She moved with her mother, Christine to San Francisco 50 years ago to be near her sister. Here she met Jim Kaufman and they were married in 1963. They had two daughters, Heather and Stacey. Lillian and Jim were married until his death in 1999. She worked at French Hospital, where her children were born, and there she made many friends. Lillian went on to work at Seton Hospital and retired in 1998. She was active in many social clubs: The Marin Garden Club, The Canadian Women's Club and The Red Hat Society. She touched many with her friendship, caring and sense of humor. She found great love and joy when her grandson, Oscar, was born. Lillian is survived by her daughters, Heather and Stacey, son-in-laws, Don and Iain, grandson, Oscar, sister, Flora and nieces and nephews, Becky, Bruce, Scott and Jill. A private memorial will be held at a later date (please send an email to [email protected] for more information). No matter how much time you get to spend with a loved one, when they are gone, it never feels like it was enough. Lillian was always so generous, kind, and thoughtful, but I think I will miss her laugh the most. It was so contagious. We will miss you Aunt Lillian.
