Linnea Leo Obituary

Linnea Hilma Leo Passed into heaven on Saturday, December 12, 2009. Born January 28, 1912 in San Francisco, she died peacefully in Burlingame, CA while a resident of Millbrae Serra Convalescent Hospital. Linnea was raised in Finland where she excelled in singing and drama. At the age of 18, she returned to America. She lived and worked in New York where she also took voice lessons and trained for the opera; however, she chose to raise a family and gave up singing. In 1943, she married Jamte Leo in San Francisco. In 1953 with their two girls, they bought their home in Daly City. Linnea loved God and her deep faith in Jesus Christ sustained her through many life challenges, especially the untimely death of her husband in 1954. With strength and courage from the Lord, Linnea worked very hard to raise her 2 girls, work, and pay for her home. Linnea was a very determined woman with many skills. Not only did she work as a waitress in various San Francisco restaurants, she was also a seamstress, excellent cook, singer and helped organize Bible Groups. She also volunteered to work with special needs adults at Bethel Center for the Developmentally Disabled. She is survived by daughters Rita Leo Bell of Citrus Heights, CA; and Gretel Leo Minyard of San Mateo, CA; grandchildren Christina Bell Olson, Stephen Bell and Rebecca Minyard: great-grandchildren, Daegan, Payton Greighlon, Victoria and Adriana. A small family service was held on December 16 at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, CA. Linnea was born on a hill, lived on a hill and is now resting on a hill.
