Loretta Ann "Mike " Payne passed away on November 29th, 2020 at her daughter Janet's home in Penngrove, CA, surrounded by her loving family.
Loretta was born on June 11th, 1926 to parents Thomas J. Healy and Mary E. Healy in San Francisco. She attended St. Cecilia's grammar school and St. Brigid's High School.
On February 15, 1947 she married Richard J. Payne, a Navy veteran of World War II, in San Francisco, where they started their family. "Mike" and Rich moved first to South San Francisco, where their family grew, and in 1959, the family moved to the Terra Linda section of San Rafael. In 1981, they lost their eldest child, Mary Christine , in a terrible auto accident and in 1994, Rich passed of cancer. Soon thereafter, "Mike" began volunteering at the Nazareth House in Terra Linda, for 20 plus years, eventually becoming a resident in 2014. In November of 2019, "Mike" moved to Janet's home in Penngrove, where she passed.
Loretta was predeceased in death by her parents, Tom and Mary, daughter Mary Christine, husband Richard, daughter-in-law Deborah, and sister Mary O'Connor.
She is survived by her children Rick Payne, Janet Payne, Bill Payne (Alice) and Ellen Payne; her grandchildren, Caitlin Sandberg Brancale (Steve), Ryan Payne (Ann), Patrik Sandberg, William Sandberg, Michael Payne, Laura Payne, Morgan Sandberg (Ben), Carrie Payne, and Hunter Sandberg; and her most recent joys, her great grandchildren: Rose, Riley, Lucille, Will and Francis.
"Mike" lived a long and wonderful life with her large family. She was a woman of faith, kindness, love, and laughter. She will be dearly missed. May she rest in peace.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Parent Sorensen of Petaluma. There will be a private interment held later in mid-2021.
