Luanne Rogers

Luanne Rogers Died peacefully on June 13, at age 66. She is survived by daughter Melinda; son, Eric; many loving relatives, and hundreds of friends. Luanne was a model of vitality, kindness, civic engagement, and a champion of the arts and education, during the many years she lived Berkeley, At a Celebration of Her Life, April 19, was declared Luanne Rogers Day in Berkeley by the Mayor and City Council and she was lauded by Assembly Member Loni Hancock, Mayor Tom Bates, and Councilmember Linda Maio. A member of the Berkeley Opera Board since 1980, she served as president for many years. With her lovely soprano voice, she sang in many venues, including the U.C. Alumni Chorus. As an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, she was instrumental in the founding of Berkeley Organizing Congregations for Voters, and has steadfastly worked to elect progressive candidates to office. Luanne dedicated 20 years service to the Berkeley Unified School District, serving as accountant for services to the developmentally disabled. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 28 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church Chapel, 2362 Bancroft at Dana, Berkeley.
