Maggie Gee Obituary
Maggie also loved Berkeley, the place where she grew up, attended public schools and UC Berkeley. She was active in numerous community and political organizations, including the Berkeley Democratic Club and the Berkeley Community Fund - she had friends in every camp. If you would like to honor Maggie, be sure to vote in every election for the rest of your life, always participate in public life, support your community and enjoy every moment that you can.
In lieu of flowers, Maggie asked that donations be made to Planned Parenthood of Alameda County.
A memorial is planned at the Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland on February 23 at 2.

Maggie was a very close friend of my late wife Nanette Chazan (nee Jaffe). They were colleagues in the Livermore research lab. She was an amazing person and a friend.

I had the pleasure of meeting Maggie a few years ago. We met for lunch with a good friend of hers, Dan Chazan. She was a truly gracious and amazing woman. I am just sorry we did not find out about her death until yesterday.

Maggie worked closely with my husband Tom for many years in the Physics Dept. at Lawrence Livermore Lab. She was held in awe by our kids for her achievements as an airplane pilot during World War Two. To me Maggie was an outstanding personality and a pleasure to be with whenever we got together socially.

Maggie lived an incredible life, and we were honored to be able to meet her when she visited our partner schools with author Marissa Moss (Sky High- The Life of Maggie Gee).
Thank you to Marissa for introducing us to Maggie and allowing us to get to know her at our school events. The kids were so excited to meet her. I will never forget how they gathered around her to ask questions, get her autograph (even on a soccer ball at Lazear School) and felt so special because because of the visit to their schools. They empowered students to see beyond their own lives into the possibilities in the world.
So many lives have been touched by Maggie. We are forever grateful.

I will greatly miss Maggie's presence in my life. In the past I referred to her as "Miss Berkeley" for her long, active years of community service. The Berkeley Democratic Club Board honored her many years of service when we recently celebrated our 75th anniversary. She was the longest serving Board member and held all the history (for over 40 years) of active participation here in Berkeley and on the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee.

I worked many years with Maggie. She led an interesting life to be sure, and loved to travel. We would talk about her trips the planning, the doing, then the trip report when next I saw her. Her life is an inspiration to all who were lucky to know her!

I was fortunate to meet Maggie a few years ago, when she visited Santa Fe Elementary School in Oakland. She had just received the Congressional Gold Medal, and Marissa Moss brought Maggie to talk to students about her life and her experiences as a WASP. Maggie was gracious, generous, and very, very intelligent. Students who had never even heard of WWII loved her -- and they learned so much about a different world, a different time, and a different culture. Thank you, Maggie! Your wonderful life was an example to so many people.
