Manuel Dudum Obituary

Manuel George Dudum Manuel George Dudum was born on January 7, 1929, in Ramallah, Palestine. Manuel was the youngest child of Giries and Sarah, and was the beloved brother of Isa (deceased), Azizeh Ayoub, and Dahir (George). Manuel came to the United States and settled in San Francisco in 1947. Manuel was a graduate of San Francisco State University and a U.S. veteran of the Korean war. When he first came to San Francisco, he worked in the family restaurant and grocery business. In 1955, Manuel went to Detroit, MI, and met his future wife, Alice. They married five months later and raised three children, Ronald, Nancy and Richard. Through their 51 years together, their family remained their greatest gift and joy, including Susanne, Mark, Randa, and their eight grandchildren, Danielle, Alia, Andrew, Ramzi, Elena, Karim, Michael and Gabriella. Manuel was a self-made man who possessed charm, strength, dignity and a positive attitude throughout his life. He entered the real estate business in 1960 and helped many other new San Franciscans fulfill their dream of owning their own home. Manuel always loved God and the church, and was regular member of St. Nicholas and St. George Orthodox Church. He was a Past Master of San Francisco Masonic Lodge. Manuel never forgot his roots, and was very active in charities that helped the Palestinian people, particularly U.S. Omen. He was proud to be an American, humbled to be a Palestinian Christian, and rich in his Arabic cultural heritage. Manuel was loved by many and respected by all who knew him. He loved his work, his extended family, his friends, and all of the people he met both personally and professionally. He will always be remembered for his curly white hair, brilliant smile, and quiet generosity. Manuel accepted life's challenges with grace and dignity and never, ever, forgot the hungry years. His self-discipline and humility are an example for all who are confident in the love of God. He was and will continue to be an inspiration to those who love him. Many thanks to all who remained an active part of his life. Friends may visit Wednesday after 5:00pm and are invited to attend the Trisagion Wednesday, 8:00pm and the Funeral Service Thursday, 10:00am, ALL at St. George Orthodox Church, 399 San Fernando Way at Ocean Avenue, San Francisco. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park, Colma. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name are kindly accepted by St. George Orthodox Church and U. S. Omen.

It was sad to hear the news about Manny passing on. Manny was a fun guy to talk to and see at various events. He definitely had character and everyone respected his thoughts and idea's. We are sorry to see him go but know that he's in a better place with friends and family. All the best to the family.
