I also went to Most Holy Redeemer and was a Eureka Valley Boy. Marcus and his friends were older, but we all knew him from being in the neighborhood. We both entered the FD in 1974. I frequently saw him at incidents and social events. I always enjoyed his company hanging out with the Station Five crazies!
Rest in Peace, Brother

My sad condolences to the Gonzales Family on the loss of your husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend. May you find solace in good memories of his life and love.
My family lost a dear member in January to the same disease. Hope and great medical care was not enough to prevent their loss of their good lives.

My condolences to the Gonzales family. Marcus was a good man and a good firefighter. I had the honor of being his classmate. He will be missed, but not forgotten.

Marcus was on the engine and I was on the truck at Station 5. He was great to work with. Great fireman, great carpenter, and lots of fun. He will be missed, condolences to the family.

As a proby assigned to Station5/Truck 5 in June of 1975 I was greeted by Marcus as I arrived for my first shift. He extended me a warm welcome and offered his assistance. Wonderful feeling for the new guy! We went on to work for several years at 5. He was a great fireman in every aspect...at fires, at emergencies and in the Station. A very good man who loved life and lived well.
God bless Marcus.
