Maria Yanos Lamorena

Maria Yanos Lamorena October 22, 1922 - June 20, 2008 Maria Yanos Lamorena, "Maring or Mary." She went home to be with the Lord peacefully on June 20, 2008 surrounded by her family. Mary born in Paniqui, Tarlac, Philippines, on October 22, 1922 to the late Pablo and Valentina Yanos. She was the loving and beloved wife of Juan "Johnny" Lamorena, for 51 all too brief years. She was a great and devoted mother to Nelson, Medy, Marvin and Jean Lamorena and Lilian and Earl Capuli; Mary was the proud Lola to her grandchildren, Gregory, Kelly, Kyle, Natalie and Neil. She is also survived by her siblings, Primo, Refelina, Ruth and Augusto; and her many in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Mary graduated from Mary Johnston School of Nursing in the Philippines and served as a public health nurse prior to her arrival in the U.S. in 1970. She retired in 1995 from the Little Sisters of the Poor Convalescent Hospital as a registered nurse. Mary lived a full life putting God first, then her family, relatives and friends. She was a Bible Woman and was involved in missionary work in the Philippines. She was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church in San Francisco. Her qualities of love and compassion were exemplified in the way that she lived as a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law and friend. Those who knew her experienced the unconditional love that she gave so freely. Friends and relatives are cordially to attend the Wake Services on Thursday, June 26th, or Friday, June 27th, 7:00 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church, 2540 Taraval St., San Francisco, CA. Viewing 4-9:00 p.m. both days. Services celebrating her life to follow on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Grace UMC. Interment, Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma, CA.
