Marijoy Rubaloff Obituary

Marijoy Rubaloff

June 27, 1928 - February 16, 2015

It is with deep sadness we share the news of the passing of our mother, Marijoy Temple Rubaloff. She is survived by her daughters Noelle Kathleen Robbins (Jerry) of Alameda, California; Joa Rubaloff (Carlos) of Zihuatanejo, Mexico; and Cinde Rubaloff (former spouse Stuart Nelson) of Chiriqui, Panama. She is also survived by grandsons Dylan and Cameron Nelson (Meredith); granddaughters Emily and Jessica Robbins, and Anai Rubaloff; and great grandson Peter Nelson.
She will be missed by her lifelong friend Joan Simonson, Medford, Oregon, and her daughters Molly and Gail. Friendships our family deeply treasures.
She is predeceased by her father Robert C. Temple, mother Florence Kramer, and brother Robert C. Temple Jr. as well as former husband, Noel Rubaloff.
Marijoy attended Pomona College and, after raising her family in Woodland Hills, Ca, attained a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Oregon. She embarked on a wonderful phase of life in Eugene, Oregon spending 16 years as the newspaper librarian at the Eugene Register-Guard, enjoying the woods and coast of Oregon.
Upon retirement she moved to Santa Rosa, Ca to be near her daughters. Here she was active as a volunteer librarian at Bouverie Preserve, librarian and school volunteer at Doyle Elementary; and a very devoted volunteer at The Living Room, serving homeless and at-risk women, where she was much appreciated.
She loved her bridge games, a good glass of wine, her dear dogs, her flower gardens, books, and travel adventures. She visited Greece, Burma, Thailand, Mexico and Spain with daughter Joa; went on safari in Africa with grandson Dylan; and saw castles in the UK with grandson Cameron. She and Joan journeyed to Bali, and enjoyed many Elder Hostel experiences. She also explored meditation and Buddhist practice, with time spent at Spirit Rock, Marin County, Ca.
She spent her last several years at Emeritus in Fremont, Ca, where she lunched with lady friends, spent time with children and grandchildren, and worked her Sudoku puzzles.
Her mind was sharp; her organizational skills never failed her; her attention to detail, sense of humor, and interest in world and community affairs were remarkable until her peaceful passing.
The words "I love you" and "I appreciate you" were often used during the past years. Marijoy's family and friends very much loved and appreciated her.
Her family wants to thank Edna and Maria, and her other dedicated caregivers.
Donations in her name can be made to The Living Room in Santa Rosa, Ca.

You are all in our thoughts during this time.
I have such wonderful memories of our families as we grew up together. I will be ever thankful for having Jo and her girls in my life.

Marijoy is the personification of her lovely name. What a lovely, unselfish, joyful person. I met her when my daughter Meredith married her grandson Cameron, and the bond between them was easy to feel. She became a friend to all the Marshall Family instantly. We will remember her fondly, always.
