Mark Fabbri Obituary

Mark Steven "Fab" Fabbri
09/13/1952 - 07/15/2025
Mark Steven Fabbri, lovingly known to many as "Fab," passed away peacefully at his home on July 15, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born and raised in San Francisco, Mark was a proud and lifelong San Franciscan. His deep love for The City shaped his life, his career, and his spirit. Mark's vibrant presence touched countless lives through his work, his friendships, and especially his coaching.
A forever "life of the party," Mark began his career as a bar owner, operating beloved establishments across the Bay Area - including The Bayside (San Francisco), The Harbor (Belmont), and Fab's (San Francisco). He later transitioned to a second career that reflected his generous heart, working in development for several Catholic schools and nonprofit organizations, including his alma mater, Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep.
It was on the football field where Mark found his true calling. A passionate coach for over 50 years, he began his coaching journey at just 18 years old with PAL Pop Warner Football - the foundation of his lifelong love for coaching. Over the decades, he coached at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Archbishop Riordan, Sequoia High School, and, for the past ten years, at Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton. He also briefly coached The Outlaws, an adult league football team, in the early 1990s. He was proud to have been part of so many teams and to have guided generations of players over the years. Mark lived and breathed the game - but more than that, he cared deeply for every player he mentored.
Mark's family was the center of his world. He is survived by his loving partner, Maureen Horan; his daughters, Aimee (Brian Meirana), Amanda (Roberto Di Grande), and Alicia (Dan Sampior); and his treasured granddaughters, Delilah, Scarlett, and Monroe. He also remained close to his former wife, Laura Fabbri, with whom he shared the joy of raising "The A-Team" and celebrating their wonderful granddaughters. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Mary Fabbri. His legacy also lives on through the countless lives he touched as a friend and colleague.
Funeral services will be held on what would have been his 73rd birthday - Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. - at Our Lady of Angels Church in Burlingame.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Mark's honor to the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) - dedicated to creating positive youth sports environments by training coaches, parents, and organizations in positive coaching principles.

We met Coach Fab at SH when our daughter started and she became friends with the Fabbri family. He was a great person inside and out. He loved his family and friends were family. Hoping you all think and remember the happy times with him.

To the Fabbri Family,

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of a fine man. He had an incredibly witty sense of humor, and was much-loved by his students at SHC.

He is in my sincere prayers.

Larger than life! FAB was a truly funny, loving man!! He raised 3 gorgeous daughters who I am lucky to call friends! I tried for over 15 years to become the 4th Fabbri sister but to my chagrin, Mark stood strong in his " A Team" lol. I will really miss Mark: his lightning quick quips, his coy grin, his vast musical trivia knowledge and his multitude of funny stories. Rest in peace Coach, until we meet again
