It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Papa, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Great Great Grandfather (Papa) Albert Fabbri. Loving husband of the late Hazel, (née Burchard). Proud father to the late Janice Romano, the late Mark Fabbri (Delores), Leigh Fabbri (Cindy), the late Jon Fabbri (Janet) and Brian Fabbri. Beloved Grandfather to John Romano (Joyce), Martin Romano, Jessica Fabbri, Jerry Fabbri, Cindy Johnson, Christine Zito, Cheryl Doron, Lauren Mejia (Steve), Justin Sorci, Ian Sorci (Sarah), Kristen Barbaro (Carm) , and Julie Leder (Jeff). He was the loving Great Grandfather to 22 and beloved Great-Great Grandfather to 3. He was also the cherished brother to the late Alfred Fabbri (Violet) and the late Florence Schalkowski, (Albert).

Born on March 23, 1927, in Schiller Park, IL, Albert was the son of the late Marco and Mary Fabbri (née Caputo). Albert graduated from East Leyden High School in 1944 and volunteered to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he began his career as a tool and die maker at International Harvester, where he would later hold positions as Supervisor Process Engineer, Superintendent of Mechanical Shops, and Manager of Technical Services. His expertise took him on numerous international trips, helping to solve manufacturing challenges in places like Thailand, Brazil, Mexico, and England.

Following his retirement from International Harvester, Albert and Hazel relocated to Rogersville, MO, where he worked as the Director of Engineering at Springfield Remanufacturing Corporation.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Albert was an active member of the Schiller Park community, where he served as a volunteer firefighter and a member of the Schiller Park Emergency Squad for many years.

Albert had a passion for working with his hands. He enjoyed crafting beautiful wood furniture, including fine cabinets, clocks, small tables, as well as creating intarsia animal carvings. He took great pleasure in learning how things worked and was always ready to repair anything that was broken. A resourceful and practical man, he firmly believed that nothing should ever be thrown away, always convinced he could fix or repurpose it. Albert was also fond of golfing and fishing and loved spending time outdoors in his yard.

But above all, Albert cherished his family and friends. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his loved ones, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. We are forever grateful for the beautiful life he built and shared with each of us.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Salvation Army in honor of Al’s cherished memories of their support for the fire department during his time as a volunteer.
