Mary Ambrose Obituary

Mary Ambrose Mary passed on peacefully on Oct. 3, 2010, in Redwood City, CA. She was born on Aug. 14, 1914 in Tooele, Utah. She has joined her husband Frank in heaven, who passed on in 1980. Mary is survived by her loving and devoted daughters Nancy (Gene, deceased) Romano, and Frances Giannini. Her grandchildren, Larry Giannini, Lynn (Arne) Martinez, Nina (Jason Garner) Romano, and Dina Shacknai will truly miss their "Granny". There are also seven children who are left with memories of Great Grandma Mary. She is also survived by her "baby" sister Tillie (George) Vitalie, who is the last survivor of her 10 siblings. Five sisters in law also survive Mary, along with many nieces and nephews and their families. Mary, Frank and their girls came to CA from UT in 1944. She retired as a bookkeeper after 25 plus years. Gardening was her specialty. Her backyard was a miniature Golden Gate Park . She enjoyed her trips to Reno and volunteering at St. Anthony's in Menlo Park with the "girls" until her health started to fail. Although she experienced many medical set backs, she always overcame them with courage and determination. Oh, how we are all going to miss her. Family and friends may visit on Thurs., Oct. 7, 2010 after 5:30 p.m. and are invited to attend a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at Crippen & Flynn Woodside Chapel, 400 Woodside Rd. , Redwood City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Fri., Oct. 8, 2010, at St. Pius Church, 1100 Woodside Rd., Redwood City. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Mission Rd., Colma. Mary loved flowers but she also gave to many charities, especially St. Jude Children's Hospital, so in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice in her memory.
