Mary Bischoff Obituary

Mary Bischoff
09/14/1943 - 02/06/2025
Mary Lysbeth Bischoff, truly a light in this world, passed away February 6, 2025 surrounded by her children and granddaughter in Aptos, California. She was a devoted wife, love-giving mother, doting Nana to her grandchildren, friend to everyone she met, and accomplished dancer. She was born in Los Angeles on September 14, 1943 to Norris and Mary Cochran. She attended the University of California Berkeley, and it was there that she met and married her lifetime partner, James L. Bischoff. She earned her Master's Degree in Dance from the University of Southern California while raising two young children. She went on to teach elementary school, as well as a long career teaching a variety of dance types including Jazz, Modern, Country Western, and Hip Hop. While raising a family, she continued to teach, volunteer in her children's schools, work in a variety of disciplines, and serve in Covenant Presbyterian Church in Palo Alto. She worked in assisted care facilities, the Education and Outreach at Lockheed Martin NASA Ames Research Center, as well as Raynet Systems. She had a way with people, lifting up everyone around her, making us all feel better about ourselves. She is now enjoying the presence of her Savior as well as her husband who preceded her by four years. She is survived by her daughter Lorena Russo, son Matthew, and four grandchildren. She touched thousands over her lifetime. Services will be held on Saturday March 22 at 1:00PM at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Aptos.
