Mary Miloslavich Obituary

Mary Katherine Miloslavich
05/24/1930 - 08/21/2025
Mary Miloslavich, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home in Miraloma Park on August 21, 2025, at the age of 95, surrounded by her six children.
Mary was born on May 24, 1930, and raised in San Francisco's Potrero Hill neighborhood. She was the daughter of Croatian immigrants, John and Katherine Kristovich.
She attended St. Teresa's Grammar School, Commerce High School, and later graduated from Saline-Johnstone Secretarial School. She spent ten years working as an executive secretary for the IRS.
In 1956, during a trip to Croatia with her father, Mary met her future husband, Anton Miloslavich. Their meeting sparked a summer romance that blossomed into a two-year courtship through heartfelt love letters exchanged across continents. Anton immigrated to America in 1958, and they were married just six weeks later at the Church of the Nativity in San Francisco. They spent 64 years together until Anton's passing in 2022.
The early years of marriage brought many challenges as Anton adjusted to a new country. With patience and resourcefulness, Mary became both his guide and his greatest support-working as the sole breadwinner while helping him learn English, navigate life in America, and secure a job as a Local 6 Union Electrician.
In 1959, Mary left her position at the IRS to embrace the role she treasured most-motherhood. After purchasing their first home in Miraloma Park, she and Anton welcomed their first of six children.
Rarely missing a Sunday mass, she and her family could be found in the third row of St. Brendan's Parish. A woman of deep faith and strong morals, Mary instilled these values in her family.
Mary shined in her domestic role. She became a gifted seamstress, a Mediterranean cook, and a disciplined financial manager. Mary's secretarial acumen helped bring a sense of order and efficiency to her home.
She delighted in writing letters, using her refined penmanship and diction. A card or letter from her was always "a keeper." Consistently up to date on current events, sports, and pop culture, there was no better conversationalist than Mary.
Always elegant and fashion-forward, Mary's sense of style, inner beauty and radiant smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was endlessly positive and helped others see the good in the world. She found peace and contentment working in her garden that featured a shrine to the Blessed Mother.
Mary demonstrated remarkable kindness, strength, and optimism even during her final years. She radiated grace and sincerity toward those who cared for her, and her spirit lives on in all those who knew her.
Mary is survived by her loving brother, John Kristovich, and his wife, Carolyn; her six children Stephen (Lesley), Chris (Jennifer), Diane, Dean (Ann Marie), Alan (Ann Marie), and Adriane (Rehan)-along with her nine cherished grandchildren-Dominique, Michael, Santino, Ruby, Matthew, Marco, Nina, Camille, and Leo-and two great-grandchildren, Felix and Theodora.
Please join us in remembering Mary at Saint Brendan Parish, 29 Rockaway Ave., San Francisco, CA 94127 on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass including Rosary; reception to follow downstairs in the Church Hall with food and refreshments and sharing stories of Mary (Parking lot located across the street).

Yesterday

During my entire childhood, my family and I lived less than a block away from the Miloslavich house. When I was a young child, I was the same age as Alan. We were best friends for many years and I spent tons of time at their house, especially during the summers. Mary always welcomed me into her house everytime I would show up to hang out. She was a wonderful person and i will never forget her and her loving kindness. God Bless and my deepest sympathy to the Miloslavich family.
