Maurice O'Connor Obituary
March 30, 1937 - August 14, 2023
Maurice (Maury) Francis O'Connor passed away peacefully after a short illness in San Francisco on August 14, 2023, age 86. Maury was a loving husband, brother, proud father, grandfather and a true gentleman.
Maury was a 1st generation San Franciscan and was proud of both his Irish and SF heritage. He was a devoted husband to his beloved Connie for 40 years before her passing in 2006. Loving brother to Sr. Noreen O'Connor, CSJ. Proud and supportive father to Patrick, Robert and Susan (Eric) and his 6 grandchildren Natalie, Jack, Claire, Annie, Michael & Willie.
Maury was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Nora O'Connor; brothers, Hugh and Jim O'Connor and wife, Connie O'Connor.
Maury was a proud alumnus of Star of the Sea, St. Joseph's Seminary, University of San Francisco and Santa Clara University.
Maury had a very fulfilling and successful career as a Civil Engineer. He worked on Heavy Construction and Marine Projects ranging from California to Boston to the North Sea and the Middle East and loved every minute of it. His family was fortunate enough to move to England for two years while he worked on a high profile multinational oil project in the North Sea. Maury loved to travel and he and his family enjoyed many adventures together but was always happy to come back to Marin County where he called home for 45 years.
He was a lifelong learner and regularly attended a variety of classes at the Fromm Institute at USF. He was always happy sharing a meal and story with family and friends.
Maury was on the Saint Ignatius Board of Regents for many years, Olympic Club Member, an active St. Anselm's parishioner and a lifelong supporter of the Arts. Maury loved to entertain with Connie and in his later years enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren laughing and happily showing them his favorite San Francisco spots.
A private funeral and burial was previously held. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, 600 Columbia Dr, San Mateo, 94402 on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maury's name to The Fromm Institute at USF and Sister's of Saint Joseph 11999 Chalon Road, LA, CA 90049.

Dear O´Connor Family. My deepest sympathy. I worked with Connie at Riordan High School and have many memories of her family stories and meeting Maury a true Irish gentleman.
