Maurice Revel Obituary

Maurice Duplain Revel
December 28, 1957 - August 8, 2023
Maurice Duplain Revel passed away on August 8, 2023 with his siblings by his side. Born to Gaston and Eula Revel on December 28, 1957, Maurice was the youngest of four children. He was a loving brother to René Revel (Maureen), Michele Bisho (Dave), and Suzanne Peoples (Scott) as well as a cherished uncle to Lauren McGreevy (Brett), Dominique Uskert (Chris), Henri Revel (Belén), Danielle Jones (Ryan), Nicole Ryan (Patrick), and Theresa Peoples (Mark Perlite).
Maurice was a life-long San Franciscan attending Saint Monica School (Class of '72), Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (Class of '76), and San Francisco State (Class of '81), earning a B.A. in Industrial Arts.
Maurice was known for his carpentry skills, organizational talent, and creative eye. He regularly put them into practice professionally and in his spare time. After graduation, Maurice had an 18 year career working in Belmont at the Plasticsmith. Afterwards, Maurice became a devoted employee of St. Monica School and Parish where he remained for twenty years as a Plant Manager. It was his home away from home. Even after his diagnosis in 2020, he continued to serve the community to ensure that the best environment was provided for the students, faculty and parish.
Maurice had a natural talent for creative solutions. If something was broken, he could fix it. If you needed something, he'd either have it or find it for you. He had an appreciation for tinkering with and refurbishing items, which could be found at the treasured family property in Sonoma or in the homes of his loved ones.
Maurice was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand. He did so with unwavering support and an unbeatable sense of humor. He made this world a better place. We will forever miss him.
Maurice had deep appreciation and respect for his care team. The Revel family extends their gratitude to Maurice's Kaiser and UCSF providers for their comprehensive treatment and care. The family will be forever grateful to Ellen Macatangay, family friend and-caregiver, who compassionately cared for Maurice during his last weeks of life.
Family and friends are invited to St. Monica Church, 5920 Geary Blvd, San Francisco on Friday, August 25, 2023. Visitation will be held at 1:30pm, followed by Mass at 2:00pm.

To Maurice's family,

As Henri, Belen and Isabel called him as Uncle Mou, we will always remember him as such. We had the opportunity to share family moments with him with Rene, Maureen and their family, he demonstrated to be a person who radiated peace and tranquility and was always smiling. He was a loving uncle, and for sure he was a great son, brother and cousin. Uncle Mau will be enjoying the presence of God and the Virgin. Peace in his grave.

Maurice was a great Neighbor, he lived across the street from me. We shared our own unofficial Neighborhood Watch and looked out for each other. I will miss the man and his stories.

To family and friends. My thoughts are there but the words are borrowed; "I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming...
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost..." Rest in Peace. From your Texas cousin, Kenny Haley.

So many fun memories of Revel/McCall family celebrations . . . Thanksgiving, Christmas, epic weddings. Maurice left us much too soon but Gas/Eula and Tom/Grace are up there waiting with open arms. No kind, gentle soul was ever more loved than Maurice.

Gonna miss you Maurice. As a parent in the trenches at St.Monica the last 15 years, your can do attitude ( or sincere explanation of why not), was always a pleasure to be around. You left it better than you found it and you did so with the most friendly and humorous disposition. I especially appreciated the tinker-er in you. Having fun and making it work. Thanks for being a friend and comrade. I was lucky to know you!

Maurice My Cousin, it's hard to imagine a world without you in it. We shared a lifetime of close camaraderie and adventure. Growing up so near to each other we had many great times together over the long years as the youngest boys of our families. I will remember you forever. I will miss you always.

Childhood friends through our fathers' dear friendship. I will always remember fun times of the summer vacation exchanges between San Francisco and Grants Pass. Rest in peace with our parents, my good man.

Maurice - We are broken hearted at losing our special friend and one of the finest men we know. There is a huge void at St Monica...as we still expect to see you coming down the hall. We know you are in heaven with God. Rest in peace dear friend.
