Maxine Silva Obituary

Maxine Silva

Was born in Farlington, Kansas, March 13, 1921. She moved to Oakland at 16 years-old and graduated from Oakland Tech H. S. At 24, she married George "Biff" Silva, Sr., a local nightclub owner. They were married for eight years before he passed, and had two sons, Lex and Biff. Her home was always filled with music.
Maxine worked for the State of California for over 30 years until retiring at 82. She epitomized beauty and elegance and showered unconditional love. Maxine welcomed all to her cozy home in Montclair with a Vodka Martini, a home-cooked meal, and good conversation - with jazz standards filling the air.
Maxine passed peacefully at home, May 27, 2015 at the age of 94, surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her son Biff, his wife, Rhonda, grandchildren, Angela and Patrick Kennedy, her devoted Shi Tzu, Charlie, and a multitude of friends. Donations to the East Bay SPCA. Services on Thursday, June 4th at 10:30 a.m., Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland.

I will miss Max's ever present welcome whenever I might drop by. I miss her conversation - she hated the speaking device, but it never got in the way of her loving, heartfelt, amusing, and irreverent communication. God I miss her.
