Melanio Duarte A kind and generous soul, he turned Caffe D'Melanio into a center of great food and live music on Ocean Ave. He hosted fundraisers for the library and friends in need. A master coffee roaster, he created the Obama Blend, and donated a portion of proceeds to the arts in SF and his native Iguazu Falls, Argentina. Melanio died in his sleep on April 15. He was 57. He leaves behind his beloved mother, Asuncion Marecco Duarte, his loving partner Laurie Martin, brother Ramon, sisters Kikita, Noemi and Celia Duarte, many beloved nieces and nephews, and many friends and admirers. He also leaves behind 2 adopted cats and his part-time dogs, E.D. and Jalu. A remembrance and potluck will be May 8, from 3-5 pm. at Ingleside Presbyterian Church, 1345 Ocean Ave. SF.
