Merrill Conn Obituary

Merrill Alexander Conn Of San Francisco died peacefully in his home on Oct. 28, 2010, after a pain-free bout of pancreatic cancer, at the young age of 87. Beloved husband of Sybil, father of Alison, Peter, Susi, Peggy and Karin, grandfather of Lisa, Alexandra, Lauren, Gilbert, Amos, Harry, Miles and Leila, great grandfather of Dylan, brother of Robert, plus he is survived by an extended family and numerous friends. Merrill graduated from Wharton in 1943 and eloped with Sybil 63 years ago. He ran the Joseph H. Cohen factory and became the VP of Botany 500 (men's apparel). At 50 he went on to pursue consulting in the garment industry. Sybil & Merrill moved from the Philadelphia area to SF in 1984 and he became the president of the Executive Service Corps. He was an avid tennis player and a constant in the gym at The SF Tennis Club. He touched many lives and will continue to live in the hearts of every one of them. He had an immeasurable zest for life and a knack for turning strangers into friends. We will miss him very very much. In lieu of a funeral, we will plan a Celebration of his life in the spring. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his honor to Hospice By The Bay.
