I am entering this note for my mother Patty Branick. Mike and my mother were first cousins. We were away on a family vacation when Mike died and just now received the notice from a mutual friend. We are sorry to hear about Mike's death and wish we had been home to attend his funeral. Mike was a terrific man. Our prayers are with all of you

Because of God, AA and Mike Casey I have celebrated 30 years of sobriety! I met Mike through Jim Morris, John Ponce and Corrine Miller. It took a village and much patience and lots of "firehouse" visits to get me on track. Mike was always there to take my calls day or night. I will miss you, my good friend.

To the Casey Family,
My heartfelt condolences go out to all of you. Michael was in Seton while my father Silvio Ceragioli was there. They were down the hall from each other and the staff conncected them once they realized they both had been in the SFPD together. Michael and my father visited many times and he joked with my Dad that they were going to "go out together" like the Bucket List. My father passed away last Sunday, August 10th, 2008 so I guess Michael was up there saying "Hey Sil what took you so long?!" It was a pleasure meeting Michael and he told me many stories of my father in the department that I had never heard before and that my father had shown him the ropes. I enjoyed visiting him while my father was there. I was impressed by his wonderful attitude. It is a comfort to know they are together. May they both rest in peace and happiness.

I had known Mike since 1941 and remember all the great times we had together. Mike was an usher at my wedding in 1958. Although we went our separate ways in latter years, will always remember the good times. My condolences to Mike's immediate family.

Ah Michael, as they would say in Dublin, "You're not the worst, lad!"
I have great lifelong memories of spending time with you and a few other San Francisco sons trying to carry a message of sobriety and fun and a full life to some hardheaded lads who are also saddened by your passing too. You filled a doorway well and your spirit filled any room. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. Laugh loud old friend.

RIP Mike,
I was in Mexico when you left us; it also happened to be on the 1st anniversary of coach Bill Walsh's death. Say hello to him up there. We shared a lot of boxing stories and were members of the Northern California Boxers Assoc.. The older we got the better we were. Give my best to Rocky Marciano and Sugar Ray Robinson and all our AA friends

Mike is one of those guys I thought would never die. What's the big idea, Mike? I remember Mike from AA meetings all over the map. It was always good to see him. I have been back in Michigan for many years now but people like Mike are who stick out in my memory banks of San Francisco. Too me, guys like Mike Casey are the San Francisco that I loved. I hope we meet again, Mike. Keep your stick on the ice.

Uncle Mike, ... big, tough, sensitive, smart and funny. You educated, entertained, consoled and encouraged. You were only outshadowed by the impact you left in our lives. Thank you for always being there as a friend and sponsor. No doubt you're again questioning the new authority. Please keep the place in one peace until we arrive. You are sorely missed. Love Tom

My prayers go out to Mike's family at this time. I remember Mike as an outgoing and real human being who actually listened to what you said and valued your input, something that is quite rare in today's world. Mike gave a great part of his life providing service and protection for all of the citizens of the great City of San Francisco. I remember my Dad (Mike Casey) speaking fondly of Mike and he deeply respected him and was very proud to be his cousin. God bless you..

I first met Mike in "The Alley" back in the 70's. Then worked with him at the house of "Wuz Fuzz" in West Richmond. A great guy and tough old school fireman. He will be missed. God bless and be with you Mike and with your family.

I remember Mike Casey as being a great guy. Simply stated, he knew a lot of stuff about a lot of stuff and had a fantastic memory for details. I also remember Mike for being very strong. He could sure push a lot of heavy iron when he loaded up the bar for his work out. And when he hit the heavy bag downstairs the whole firehouse shook. I was always amazed when he would run to work in the morning with a backpack full of rocks. He was an amazing man. Go with God Mike. Say hi to all the station 14 greats that went before you. Next time I hear thunder, I'll wonder if God let you set up a heavy bag up there...

Godspeed Mike;
I was lucky enough to have had almost daily conversations with Mike in the past few weeks ... picking up where we left off at St. 14.
Mike did everything 100% (sometimes to his detriment) but you always knew Mike was "the real deal".
We are all fortunate that Mike came into our lives.
A hui hou Mike (until we meet again).

Mike Casey may as well have been Santa Claus in my young girls' mind, as he was a fixture of every Christmas Eve I spent as a girl and his personality, presence and legend were as big!! He was kind and good to me and treated me like "one of the girls." Those girls of his that are like cousins to me and as a family regaled me with all the famous Casey humor and wit. His energy and spirit will live on forever.
My heartfelt condolences and love to Jo Anne & Al, Kathy Sr. and Kathy Jr., Terry, Denise, Virginia, Barbara, Rob, Peter, Sue and their families. With my deepest Sympathy...

To all of the Casey family, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of grief. Mike, and younger brother Danny, were my older cousins, almost like older brothers. Growing up around them in the Saint Vincent de Paul neighborhood in San Francisco brings back many fond memories! I looked up to them and now will miss them both!

I met Mike when he helped save my life in March of 1967. I was arresting a subject in Marin County after the guy pulled a gun on me, and we began figthing in the middle of a street, in the Mill Valley area. Mike with his kid's and family were driving by on there way to Muir Woods. Mike stopped his car and came to my aid. I'll always remember his kindness and assistance. My thoughts go out to his family and friends during this time.

Mike's passion for helping those of us lucky enough to have met him
in 'the rooms' (like Fulton St.) saved many lives. Trudging became easy once having heard him. Thanks Mike. My condolensces to his other family.

Mike knew me for all my 43-years since I was knee-high to a Rug-Rat :-). I loved him and will miss his tremendous knowledge and colorful stories that enchanted and sometimes scared me as a little kid. From our trips to the Russian River to Firemen's picnics, the times we spent with the Casey Family were always a total blast! No words can express the loss I feel today and my heart goes out to you, Kathy, and Cathy, Terry, Denise, Virginia, Barbara (and the rest of the family). I wish you all the same peace I feel when I remember the great memories of love and laughter that Mike blessed us with over the years. He truly touched my life and the good times will live on in my heart forever.

I first met Mike on Nov. 16, 1966 when we both were in the same entrance class in the SFFD. We worked together at Sta. 1 and ran into each other over the years. It was always a pleasure to sit down and talk with Mike. He was honest, humorous, and mostly intelligent. How else would I know of the Peloponnesian War. My condolences to Mikes entire family and I know he will be missed by all that were fortunate enough to know him. I'm sure Sophia Loren is a lesser person for not having met him. Rest in Peace Mike

Peace be with ye, Uncle Mike. That's what I used to call him. We'd take the bus home when we worked at the courthouse and we'd discuss history and old San Francisco. Great conversations; I learned a lot from Mike. I will miss him. I offer my sympathies to his family and friends.

Very few people in this world have really impressed me with what they've accomplished in their lifetime. Mike Casey is one of those people. A true Renaissance man. Self aware of his abilities and his faults. self taught on the history of just about anything, and with the courage to choose his own path. During the nearly twelve years I was together with your niece Sue, it was an honor to get to know you Mike!
