Nov. 15, 1946- Jun. 19, 2013
SF native Michael Dorsey passed away in his home unexpectedly on June 19. Son of William and Rita Dorsey, brother of Peter Dorsey, loving husband of 28 years to Denise and extraordinarily awesome father to Collin and Sarah Dorsey. He grew up in the sunset district- a devout follower of the "counter culture". Drafted and honorably served his country in the US Army in Vietnam 67'-68'. Extremely passionate for music- the "great god of the people" Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones. Loyal employee to UPS for 40 years. True American patriot and the most generous, funny and caring friend a person can ask for. He would be recognized for his plaid shirts, blue jeans, moccasins and sometimes explicit language. If he wasn't cruising in his truck that survived The Great Depression, he might be seen in his corvette which also served as the most expensive shelf in history! A celebration of Michael's extraordinary life will be held on June 30, 2013. Please contact family for details.

I shall and have miss you Mike. Being Donald's and my next door neighbor at Park View Heights was always a hoot. A tomato, lemon, being tossed from one deck to the other when either of us short. The long conversations at our dinner table... Be in Peace my friend.

Mike was the shop steward in the old Mission Center when I started at UPS. He taught me how to deal with management and also gave me lots of great advice to survive working at UPS. Now that I'm a steward I use some of what he taught me; just with cleaner language. :) Always chatted with him at the Union meetings and was glad to see him at another driver's retirement party in April. Deepest condolences to the Dorsey Family, Mike will be missed. R.I.P. Dorsey.

I worked with Mike for 28 years at UPS. He was a colorful guy
who seemed to keep management on their toes. Mike helped
me out when I first started package, and I will always be grateful. To Mike's family, I am sorry for your loss.

I wasn't around you and your family near as much as I'd liked... but must say knowing The Dorsey/Patula clan was going to be present at any occasion, put a smile on my face. A life lived by a joyous soul. Our sincere condolences!

Mike Dorsey a very kind, brave man. He would speak out when we all needed his bravery for all the causes coming before us who love and live or have lived in Parkview Heights. I can still hear his laugh and oh those fireworks!!!

Mike lived at the corner of 45th Ave and became my brothers life long friend. He introduced my brother to a family friend. Terry and A married, and Mike became their daughter's god-father. He was always with Terry, and he even let me drive the corvette! My deepest wishes are with you. The McIntyre's lost a great friend.

Deepest condolences. I worked with Mike at UPS, the Union, and helped he and his Dad at Lakeside Hardware on some of his various projects. He was a true San Franciscan...from a time that is fast disappearing now. He will be deeply missed.

I had the pleasure to work with Mike at UPS for the last 28 years. Also we were on the executive board together for our local union for many years. Mike was quite a character and loved to clown around with us on the job. May God bless the Dorsey family. He will be missed.
