Michael Ribotta

Fr. Michael Ribotta Fr. Michael Ribotta, a Salesian of St. John Bosco, died peacefully at St. Marys Medical Center, San Francisco, June 22, 2010 at the age of 90. Born in Italy, Feb. 4 1920, his childhood years were spent in the North Beach section of San Francisco, his elementary education at Salesian School of SS. Peter and Pauls Parish. He professed as a Salesain religious in 1939 and was ordained a Catholic priest in 1949. His education included advanced degrees in philosophy and English and Ph.D. in Education from the University of California, Berkeley. After years of high school teaching and administration, he taught education at USF, and later instructed in the Institute of Salesain Studies, Berkeley. Many of his former students remember him with fond memories. A Vigil service will be Thursday, June 24, 7:30pm, at Valente Marini Perata & Co. Funeral Directors, 4840 Mission St., San Francisco. Funeral Mass, Friday June 25, 10:30am at SS. Peter and Paul Church. Interment will follow in the Salesian Cemetery, Richmond California.
