Michelle Kakleas Obituary

Michelle Smith Kakleas
September 2, 1963 - October 3, 2022
Michelle Kakleas passed away on October 3, 2022, peacefully at home after five years of living with cancer alongside her daughter Sofia, husband Jon, dog Celeste, and kitten, Mona. She was 59 years young and full of love for her family and friends.
Michelle was born on September 2, 1963, in Everett Washington to Luke Smith of Hood River Oregon, and Georgia Boudoucies of Greenville Florida. She grew up in Danville California, graduating from Monte Vista High School as well as obtaining an associate's degree from Positas Junior College in the East Bay. She worked for the Landor company in San Francisco and eventually became the art director of the Serge Sorroko gallery in San Francisco. It was at this time she met Jon Kakleas in 1996 and they eventually married in 1998. They settled down in San Rafael, California, and were blessed to have their only child, Sofia Nicole in 2002. Michelle loved rescuing animals, art, ballet, interior design, crafts, romantic comedies, and the Hallmark Channel, but most of all she loved her beautiful daughter Sofia, who was her best friend.
Michelle will be missed by her husband Jon of 24 years, daughter Sofia, dog Celeste, and kitten Mona along with her mother Georgia, her husband Ron Beardslee; her brother Nico and his wife Gina; sister Nicole; and nephews and nieces, Brandon, Griffin, Justin, and Georgia, as well as stepbrother Kelly Beardslee and his family. Michelle has requested no funeral or memorial at this time. She would like donations to be made to the Confetti Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing birthday parties to hospitalized children in pediatric oncology clinics.

Jon and Sophia, We want to share our condolences with you....and let you know Michelle was such a big part of our lives in the 80's and after. We knew her as the coolest single teen career gal ever and good friend. We will miss her beautiful smile, dry humor and listening to Prince together.

Love, Lauri Chappell, Jill Poulsen, Janis McLaughlin and Lynn OHalloran-Akeyson
