Mina Humphreys Obituary

On May 17, 2014, our beloved sister, Mina Watterson Humphreys, died after a 2½ year battle with cancer-she was 66. She is survived by countless friends and a loving family: her husband Rick; children Jenny Colby (Todd) and Rick, Jr. (Tara); grandchildren: T.J., Elizabeth, Lauryn, Emma, Hannah and Aedan; brothers: Stu, Robert (Lynnette), John (Rose Mae), Tim (Cynthia); and sister, Julie Piombo (Bob); and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Stuart and Charlotte Watterson.

Mina was born in Ohio, grew up in San Francisco and moved with her family to Hawaii in 1973, where she remained a diehard 49er fan. After raising her children, she became an active volunteer, first with the Ronald McDonald House and then The Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation. She was a past president of the Foundation and served on its Advisory Board.

At the center of Mina's life was family and friends. She was a devoted "Tutu" to her six grandchildren. Mina was a remarkable and inspiring woman who touched so many lives. She lived her life with dignity, courage and grace. Mina will be forever loved and remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her.

Memorial donations may be made to: The Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation Mina W. Humphreys Memorial Fund, 1814 Liliha Street, Honolulu, HI 96817.
