My paternal cousin Nancy Toland Alexander was a woman eons ahead of her time. We connected late in life because of family drama a generation before us. But our short time together was certainly a solid example of quality over quantity. Each of our visits was rewarding and we shared life stories like long-lost friends. I hope her spirit will continue to connect my immediate family with hers. To the Alexander family: You are in our thoughts and we wish your Mom peace.

Dear Alexander Family,
I would have liked to have known my cousin, Nancy, more and for a longer period of time. However, from the opportunity that I had, I found her to be remarkable. What a lovely woman! Her legacy is all of you and I know that she must have been so very happy to have had you so very close to her.
May time heal your hearts, bring you closer
as a family and continue her stories to keep her always near.

Almost a second Mom, I don't know how many years we lived across the street from each other, but our families were some of the originals in Sunnyvale. Our families grew and went through the changes we all do as kids grow up and grandkids also grow up.
From the the thousands of books Nancy had, she had so much knowledge to pass on, I just didn't appreciate it back then. Now, I could ask her thousands of things.
Another thing,to me- Nancy not only looked like Olivia De Havilland in Gone With The Wind, she was like her- selfless and always thinking of everyone else.
We'll all miss her, and remember her.

We want to let you know that due to a private family matter we will not be having the Celebration of Life for our Mother, Nancy at this time. However, we do encourage you to join her permanent online Legacy guest book to post your thoughts, stories, or to light a candle for her memory as it would mean so much to us.
If you would please let any of your friends know we have canceled at this time that we may not be aware of, we would appreciate it greatly. Our Mother spoke so fondly of her friends and we forever cherish and hold her so close in our hearts. We celebrate her memory everyday as she was truly inspiring and so very loved.
Our best to you and yours,
The Alexander Family

My dear grandma,
I love you beyond words. You always amazed me with your knowledge about pretty much everything. I'll never forget our long conversations that I keep in my heart. You were one of the most intelligent people I've ever known and so interesting to talk to. You were so invested in us growing up, I loved going to your house after school as a child where we would share in our passion for poetry. You always believed in me and I found so much comfort in you. Baby Ava will always hear about her great grandmother and how amazing she was. I know you see her and all of us and I know I will hug you again some day. I love you always and forever grandma.
Love,
Lindsay
