Nancy Burnett Obituary

Nancy Ann Burnett

Born 23 October 1933 and a native of Bremerton, Washington, passed away in San Mateo on 15 October 2018 after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her children Alan, Alicia and Cheryl, nephews Dave McAboy (Carol) and Steve McAboy (Linda), nieces Linda Merrifield, Suzy Eileers, Barbie Davis (Jack), Fran Johnson, Finnish cousin Lars Jakobsson (Riaja), numerous grand nieces and nephews, and grand dog Sierra. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years (Walter), mother (Ione Wardell), father (Eric Hemming), birth mother (Nancy Hemming), siblings and their spouses (Donald and Mary Wardell, Kathryn and Johnny Johnson, Jean and Bud McAboy, and nephews Donald Wardell and Thomas Johnson.

She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, cooking, and spending time at the family cabin in Twain Harte. She was active in her community, being a girl scout leader, PTA president, working at the Samaritan House, serving as the president of the Garden Café for two terms, being a teen van advocate, and being an active member of the Church of the Transfiguration in San Mateo.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on 10 November 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Transfiguration at 3900 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo, CA. Contributions may be made to the Lucile Packard Hospital at Stanford, 400 Hamilton Avenue, Stanford, CA or The Samaritan House, 4031 Pacific Avenue, San Mateo, CA 94403.
