Nancy Kakigi Obituary
April 13, 1945 - December 27, 2023
Nancy Jean Kakigi, age 78, passed away on December 27, 2023. She was the devoted wife to husband, Richard Kakigi for 56 years. She was the loving mother to Jennifer Berten and husband, Ralph, Sean Kakigi and wife, Joyce Pisnanont, Caitlin Kakigi and husband, Subodh Iyengar; grandmother to William and Sarah Berten, Kei Kakigi, and Mira Iyengar; daughter to the late Lily and Ichiro Fukutome; sister to David Fukutome, Susan Iida and husband, Michael, and Sharon Fukutome and husband, Terry Rodriguez.
Born in Chicago and raised in Sacramento, she graduated from UC Berkeley in 1966. She was an avid snorkeler, San Francisco Giants fan, photographer, gardener, balletomane, and selfless volunteer. She was a generous host and loved welcoming friends and family into her home for delicious meals. She enjoyed traveling and especially looked forward to annual trips to Hawaii with family and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 27th at 11:00 a.m., at the Sunset View Cemetery at Fairmont and Colusa Avenues in El Cerrito.
