Nancy Pappas Obituary

Nancy (Letchfield) Pappas

Nov. 10, 1930 - July 28, 2016

Nancy passed away peacefully in her San Mateo home with her husband and children by her side. Nancy was ever faithful, hopeful, and joyous in the Lord throughout her life and in her tenacious battle with cancer and took solace in His words: "In my Father's house are many dwelling places: if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you."

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Francis Letchfield of San Mateo Park, Nancy was born and raised in San Mateo Park, and attended Park School, San Mateo High, Northwestern University and Stanford University, where she earned her Art History degree in 1952. Nancy's timeless style, sophistication and elegance were second only to her gentle, kind and pleasant disposition. Among her many interests, Nancy enjoyed sports, running, tennis and playing Duplicate Bridge at the Palo Alto and Burlingame Bridge Clubs, as well as competing in Bridge Tournaments. She volunteered at the American Cancer Society's Discovery Shop in Menlo Park, and amassed many unforgettable moments travelling the world by her husband's side.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 30 years George Pappas, and her children, William (Dawn) Lauer of Millbrae, Lynne Bergmann of San Mateo and Greg (Susan) Lauer of San Jose. Nancy was predeceased by her daughter Jill Lauer.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Peninsula Covenant Church, 3560 Farm Hill Blvd, Redwood City on August 24, 2016, at 11:30AM. A reception will follow immediately at The Stratford, 601 Laurel Avenue, San Mateo. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mission Hospice.

In my search to connect with the Letchfield family, I'm hoping someone will respond to this message. I have a lovely photo of Nancy that I hope to return. It was sent to my mother, Mary Louise Freck, when she worked for Fran Letchfield many years ago. I would also love to chat about Fran's very interesting career. I look forward to hearing from someone, even at this late date. Sincerely, Molly Sue
