Nicholas "Nick" Louis Capurro
July 1, 1935 - June 17, 2023
Nicholas "Nick" Louis Capurro, 87, sadly passed on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at his home in Brentwood California.
Nick was born to Louis and Beatrice Capurro on July 1, 1935, in San Francisco. He was his parents' first of three, growing quickly to surpass his father's height by nearly one foot, reaching 6'5". Consequently, Nick played basketball for Sacred Heart and University of San Francisco, sharing courts with the likes of Bill Russell and Johnny Mathis. A smooth passer with very quick hand to eye, Nick found great success between the key and the base line. An exhilarating professional athletic career seemed in the making when the Korean War beckoned. After serving 18 months abroad, Nick saw more action at the 500 Club on Valencia Street in San Francisco, where he met his first wife Donna Olivia Butler.
They had 3 children in 5 years. Donna claimed Nick could impregnate her by merely speaking with her the phone. Even so, after a stint as a married man in Pacifica, Nick and Donna divorced. He collected his children most weekends, attending several showings of "Angel In My Pocket" with Andy Griffith. Quality family films were tough to come by in 1969.
Nick then met his second wife, Doris ("Dora") Lucas Bouloumpas, and with her 4 children they created a new family, soon adding Nicholas Jr to their brood in Daly City.
While married to his first wife, Nick began working at Sherry's Liquors near Polk Street. Humorous and handsome, striking in a slim lapel suit, he quickly moved up the corporate ladder and became a district manager for Pellegrini Wines. Eventually Nick and Dora left the confines of the Peninsula for a spacious, two storied home in Pleasant Hill.
He remained a sports enthusiast, and influenced several of his kids to compete. None matched his earlier brilliance.
After retiring, Nick and Dora settled in the warmth and simplicity of Brentwood, he fawning over his wife of so many decades. With their bungalow bordering a golf course, Nick soon gave up golf and enjoyed time with his family, which had become quite extensive.
Following Dora's death, Nick spent most of his days with his caretaker Rose, and devoted daughter Elizabeth.
He is survived by 2 brothers, Louis and Gary, 7 children, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A memorial will be held at San Rafael Joe's, San Rafael, California, on July 7, 3:00 to 6:30 pm.

heals a broken heart,
but time has stood still
since we've been apart."
