We were very sad to hear about Nina. It seemed a tragic loss.
She was an effervescent and witty conversationalist, and it figures that she was on stage earlier in her life.

We lived around the corner from each, attended both Roosevelt and Washington together. We got reacquainted at the 50th Washington reunion after not seeing each other for thirty years. Living a thousand miles apart, we enjoyed each other´s company on FB and several Internet sites. Whenever we were in SF or in the Bay Area, we would get together with our spouses and laugh and chat for hours. A great friend with a great personality that made her one of a kind. We mourn her passing and wish for Frank great memories and blessings. Steve and Dolores.

My condolences to Nina´s family, friends, and colleagues. She was loved by all who knew and worked with her.
I last saw Nina at a celebration of honor for her and deceased Sgt. Jack Young at Ingleside Station a few years ago. She was a hero that fateful day in 1971, sending out the alarm even though she had been wounded by terrorists who were invading the precinct.
Rest in Peace Nina! You are our hero!

We only met once, a friend of my in-laws. Nowhere in her job description did it say Nina was obliged to be a target for terrorists. But she persevered, and showed that greater love that few have to be there for the rest of us. Rest in peace, Nina.

I knew Nina when she worked at SFPD. After she was seriously injured during the attack on Ingleside Station, she was initially denied disability benefits, by the city. Myself, and others, fought to make sure she would get the same benefits that any officer would get, after being injured on the job.
Nina was never defined by what happened that horrible day. She was strong, extremely funny, kind, and dearly loved by all of us who knew her in the PD.
My condolences to her family. A feisty guardian angel is now watching over you.

My condolences to Nina's husband, Frank and her daughter, Shayna.
I knew her when she was the Captains Clerk at Park Station.
She was a wonderful, upbeat woman who I enjoyed talking to on a daily basis.
I had the utmost respect for her and always admired the courage she showed when she was a victim of the vicious attack by the Black Liberation Army, at Ingleside Station, in August of 1971, which resulted in the death of Sergeant Jack Young and the wounding of another officer.
Although shot, herself, she kept her wits about her and had the presence of mind to put out the call for help which got units rolling to assist herself and the two fallen officers.
God Bless, you Nina. May you Rest in Peace.

Nina was our clerk typist at the Old Central Station during my Field Training . She also was like a mother taking care of all us young chick. Would run into her occasionally during our overlapping police department careers until that fateful night when she and Sgt Young were shot at Ingleside Station. Saw her afterwards and realize why she had such trouble returning. We loved you Nina and you were so good to work with. You were like family. You will be missed.

When I was an SFPD Tenderfoot at the "Old" Central Station on Greenwich Street (circa 1969) Nina was the Clerk/Typist who transcribed all of our police reports. She was a great friend, valued mentor and just plain great person....
