Paul Fortino Obituary

Paul Fortino
09/17/1948 - 06/03/2024
Paul died peacefully from Pulmonary Fibrosis at home surrounded by his family. He was courageous in death as he was in life.
Paul was born in Fort Ord, Monterey County, California and raised in The Bronx, NYC. He moved to San Francisco in 1972. As an English major in college, he had an appreciation for well put together words, which Paul put together very well; he sent friends and family witty postcards from all over the world which are treasured to this day. His work life included being a cab driver in the Bronx, NYC, a social worker, an usher for the San Francisco Symphony, and water inspector for the San Francisco Water Department.
Paul will be remembered for his wondrous storytelling, being down-to-earth, funny, kind, and full of warmth to everyone he encountered. He was a true lover of life, he loved a good meal surrounded by family and friends in spirited conversation, a good movie on the big screen, playing rock and roll music, watching a Forty Niner game and remembering Mickey Mantle, his childhood hero. He loved adventure and travelled often and extensively making friends in faraway places.
Missing Paul always and forever are his wife Jan, his niece Jessica, his stepchildren Stephen, Paul, Teresa, Mark, and his step-grandchildren Cherilyn and Alec, his other family members and many dear friends. A celebration of Paul's life was held at a private family gathering on June 23rd.
Rest in peace sweetheart.

How I will /have missed BB. He was so dear to mom, my brothers, myself, my son and everyone in his orbit. So smart, intelligent and funny as can be. His love and never ending support will always be in my heart.

We cherish the times spent with Paul, especially dinners, movies and sitting around talking. We never knew him to be anything but positive and interested in everything around him.

I will always cherish those deep and cerebrally witty conversations I had with Paul during the times we were together in our assignments at the Symphony Hall. He was a special addition to Life.
