Pauline McArdle
03/09/2026
Our darling Mother, Pauline Anne McArdle (née Zwissig), reached the end of her extraordinary life on March 9, 2026. Those she left behind, who mourn her deeply, are firmly convinced and comforted by the belief that she was blessed with a long life because she had much to achieve and many lives to touch during her time on earth.
Pauline was predeceased by her loving husband, Jack, who passed away in 2014 after over 70 years of marriage. Their happy union resulted in four daughters: Therese Storms, Lauren McArdle, Michelle McArdle, Suzanne Maloch, and her bonus daughter Sierra Stetson, who wasn't born into the family but might as well have been. The adventures they shared as a family were numerous and often hilarious. In addition to her immediate family, Pauline was adored by her son-in-law, Mike Storms; her grandson, Drew Storms; his wife, Kym; and her great-grandchildren, Rowan and Luke. That adoration extended from California to Texas, where Pauline's second son-in-law, Dr. Rick Maloch, and grandson Jack call home.
Also deserving mention are Pauline's nieces and nephews, Lynnel (Bill Keegan), Patrice (Sue Mara), Michael (Lisa), and Mark (Laura) Callagy, who were precious to her and remained close throughout the years. Those nieces and nephews, along with their spouses and families, consistently and lovingly visited Pauline, extending their love and good wishes.
Both of our parents worked hard to ensure their daughters had not only the best of everything but also enjoyed it in a home filled with love, laughter, and music. Jack and Pauline took special pride in instilling the Catholic faith in their daughters' lives and providing each with a Jesuit education at the University of San Francisco.
Pauline was fortunate to explore the world with her husband, Jack. She often mentioned that her favorite city was London and that she'd visited it 28 times. Together, they enjoyed many adventures, including the time Jack got locked in Notre Dame Cathedral just after closing. One of her best memories was when she traversed the Taurus Mountains of Turkey by burro, in a white silk ensemble. She and Jack traveled the world and made lifelong friendships along the way.
Pauline was an amazing cook and a gracious hostess. She orchestrated countless dinner parties at our family home, serving meals for 10 to 25 with extraordinary grace, ease, and hospitality.
Pauline was always dressed to the nines, with flawless makeup, hair, and couture, which continues to inspire her daughters' love of all things fashion today.
Our mother's interests and talents were numerous. She was an extraordinary artist but stopped painting once her children started adding their "special touch" to the canvases she had set up in their family home. Pauline volunteered generously and enthusiastically with many organizations, including her family's parish, St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. She logged countless hours at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco, where she raised thousands of dollars by lending her time and creativity to their annual holiday boutique and fundraiser.
Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City. A private burial will be held.
Should you wish to honor Pauline's life, her family humbly requests that you refrain from sending flowers but instead send contributions to St. Anthony's Foundation in San Francisco or the animal
charity of your choice.
Rest peacefully, Mommy; you're with Daddy again.
